Baptism

We had Charlotte baptized last Sunday.  It was a great day; she did well through most of the service, I think she just cried once during her spotlight moment and then of course as if on cue, she cried during the sermon.  So, she and I enjoyed the day outside for the rest of the sermon and made our way back in when she said that she would behave (lo and behold the service was just about over).  We had our family and friends back over at our house after church for lunch and we had a great time catching up with friends and family, laughing, eating, and sleeping (that last one just applies to Charlotte).

More catching up

I was going through pictures on the computer and realized that there is yet more catching up to do on the blog!  In my defense, this has been a busy month.  Jeff and I both celebrated birthdays, there was Mother's Day, and of course we moved into our new house at the beginning of the month and we are still somewhat in the throes of that move.  The house is pretty much all together with the exception of hanging some things on the walls and a few stray boxes that I can't quite get up the will to unpack.  Soon enough, right?  Caroline has also been playing soccer, so that is part of our weekend each Saturday as well.

I thought I'd share some pictures from our busy month and apologize for not getting this all on here sooner.

That's our girl: #3!

Caroline giving Jeff a birthday morning shoulder massage - as you can see she is quite excited about it.

Sisterly love!

Catching up!

I was looking through recent pictures tonight on the computer and realized that I never posted pictures from Caroline's "Princess Ball".  A few weeks back there was a Princess Ball in Baton Rouge at the Old State Capitol (which for the non-BR folks, looks just like a castle).  Jeff took Caroline and she had a fantastic time.  It was a dream come true for any little girl who loves Disney princesses or princesses of any sort actually.  Jeff said that it was packed and the parents really were more like the audience and the little girls danced with the "princesses" who were there.  Caroline was especially fascinated with one particular princess and you'll see from the pictures that she attached herself to that girl!  When Caroline walked in the door after the evening, the first thing she said was, "I miss that girl!"  I said, "What girl, Caroline?"  She replied, "My beautiful princess!"

Papa and Caroline getting ready to leave for the ball!

And again.

The clock struck 9:00 and there was one tired girl trying to stay up way past her bed time.

Listening ears

When Caroline isn't listening to us or doesn't follow directions, we try to make kind of a fun game out of putting on her "listening ears." This involves pretending you are taking of her ears that aren't working and replacing them with listening ears. Caroline is a sensitive little girl, so the more we can get her to do the things we ask without resorting to fussing at her, the better. This is one of those little games that works; it puts a smile on her face and produces the behavior we went. Win -win!

Lately Caroline's ears have been bothering her and my suspicion for the cause of that pain was that her tubes were coming out or somehow stuck in her ear because she's had the tubes for almost two years now. As a side-note, I don't advocate putting kids under anesthesia, except of course when Mom really needs a nap (am I right?), but tubes work. Caroline hasn't had an ear infection in two years. In light of the recent ear pain, I took her to the doctor Tuesday. We found out that her tubes have indeed come out, but were sitting inside her ear canal bumping up against her ear drum, causing some severe pain. Since she's had this ear pain off and on for the last couple of weeks, she's been saying, "I can't put my listening ears on, there is junk in my ears!" Hopefully the new drops will flush out the tubes and we'll be able to put those listening ears back on soon.

Yesterday I was driving listening to the radio and a teaser for a story that was coming up piqued my interest. The story was going to be about "Media Rights", which to me, as a lawyer sounded somewhat interesting. I thought perhaps it was about some kind of intellectual property or internet law or something of that nature. As the story started I was quickly confused. The reporter kept talking about media rights that were going to be auctioned (huh?) and then went into a discussion of rocks found in different places around the world and their implications for the beginnings of life on this planet, blah, blah, blah. Yes, the story was about Meteorites. Apparently I need to put some listening ears on too

Mother's Day

Molly has a really touching post up for Mother's Day. I know it's a day late, but I thought it was worth sharing anyway.

Charlotte is 5 mos!

I was on a video kick last night, so I decided to do an update of Charlotte's little life video. It's hard to believe that over five months have gone by since she made her entrance into the world. She is rolling over front to back and back to front now and she's trying hard to sit up. She is a genuinely happy baby; she loves to laugh (especially at her big sister) and I'm amazed that even this young she really seems to have a sense of humor. Caroline is the only one who can get her to really crack up laughing, and I can't tell you how big of a smile that brings to both Jeff and me. Charlotte is still eating and sleeping really well; in fact, last night she slept for ten hours. TEN HOURS! The girls are both such blessings, each in her own way and it's a joy to see them develop their own personalities each day.
Here's a little glimpse at five months in the life of Charlotte:

Nashville video

Okay - so between moving and Caroline having soccer and gymnastics and of course that thing called "work", I have not had a chance taken the time to get our Nashville pictures up. I decided to make a short little video from the trip. I realized two things as I created this tonight: 1) I need to get Jeff to take more pictures of me with the girls, and 2) I didn't get one picture of just Allison and me or Allison, Jeremy, Jeff and me the entire trip. My mind was obviously on the kids . . . So, how 'bout next time we're together Allison and Jeremy, let's make sure to document the fact that WE were friends first?
Enjoy!
